What Is an Under Vehicle Search Mirror?

UVSMs were first introduced by General Motors in the early 1980s as part of its “Vision Safety System”. GM was one of the first companies to offer these devices as standard equipment on new cars. Since then, other manufacturers have followed suit and now nearly every vehicle sold today comes with at least one UVSM.

The purpose of an under vehicle search mirror (UVSM) is to help drivers see what is behind them while driving. These mirrors are mounted below the rear view mirror and are designed to be used in conjunction with the driver’s side mirror. When activated, the device projects a bright light onto the ground directly behind the car. This allows the driver to see objects that might otherwise be hidden from view.

How Much Should I Spend?

There are two main types of under vehicle search mirrors – fixed and folding. Fixed ones are usually more expensive than folding ones because they require less space. However, they are easier to install and use. Folding ones are cheaper, but they take up more room when not in use.

How Do They Work?
